Barbara Justice is a visual artist and an arts educator. Her research and studio practice revolve around photographic arts with a focus on analogue film cameras, handmade books & zines, screenprinting, historical and experimental photographic processes, collage, creative writing, and gallery curation.
 
Barbara teaches visual art at various levels. She is the Photography Instructor at Madison West High School. Additionally, Justice's teaching record includes Madison Area Technical College, Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Peters Valley School of Craft, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. Her artwork is exhibited regionally, nationally, and globally. In 2026, Justice was selected to show her most recent body of work, Boys of Swiftcurrent Lake, at the Experimental Photography Festival in Barcelona, Spain. She is a member of the Society for Photographic Education, CBAA-The Association of Book Arts Education, Southern Graphics Council International, Film Shooters Collective, and the National Education Association. Barbara is from Southern New Mexico and far west Texas. She received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was the inaugural recipient of the Interdisciplinary Artist Research Cohort Fellowship (IARC), and her BFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
