Double Exposures

The double exposure technique has played a vital part of my photography practice. All of the photographs below are made with various film cameras including the Holga 120TLR, the Mamiya RB67 ProS, a Handmade Pinhole, and the Polaroid 420 Automatic Land Camera. I'm drawn to making multiple exposures because of chance being such an integral variable of the outcome.

Be Excellent to Each other, 2017

Be Excellent To Each Other is a series based on my time in the Midwest. These subjects are guides for me; they are reference points in which I establish a sense of familiarity. The results of two layered images reveal a visual metaphor, covering and uncovering relevant clues and reminders of places I encounter.

Italy, 2015

In 2015 I lived in Florence, Italy for seven months. I arrived here through an artist residency program with Santa Reparata International School of Art. My focus was on several photography projects including liquid emulsion printing, traditional silver gelatin printing, and instant film emulsion lifts.
